When I write I speak + A Faithful Passion

When I write I speak.
No I mean literally some of my posts are just me talking (with a few edits). "A" often does this as his hands are busy doing other things and he can't use both of them to text or type. He pushes the microphone button on his iPhone and speaks out his text messages. I tried it about a month ago and it was amazing. (For those of you that have been using it for years, I'm late to the party I know)  Sometimes when I cannot type out my thoughts as I want to say them, I speak them. It's kind of amazing how far technology has come, translating the sound of my voice into a typed paragraph, substance in front of my eyes.

There's quite a few amazing things that are going on in my life right now. To some they may seem miniscule but truly understanding the importance in the little things gives you life.

one. My house is a mess. A pigsty is what my mom would call it back when I was younger and my room looked like a tornado hit it. I am currently in the process of moving while selling furniture and decor (local and interested? send me an e-mail). Downsizing to save and have more in the future. But I am living in the middle of chaos right now. Not organized chaos, well, I guess semi-organized chaos.
On Sunday, I walked down my hallway, bags and boxes on each side of me and in front of me. But I had a smile on my face. I have never felt how happy I am right now. Every other time I have moved, I have dreaded it. Irritable and mad the entire time, throwing thing in boxes, yelling, practically pulling my hair out. But this time it is different. I have peace. I am not my situation. I can do all things. I control my outlook on life. I know that better things are to come and this is the process.

two. Communication. I thank God for helping me to communicate to "A." Although, I am not always convinced he hears me (LOL), I am thankful that we can have open lines of communications and talk to each other about everything. I am also thankful that God helps us deal with each other. I know every once and in a while -HAHA- I am hard to live with or deal with. But we pick up on each other's cues and give space when necessary. I was listening to a talk radio show this morning and a man that had been married 32 years said communication was the best advice he could give newlyweds. I thank God that I can be completely honest with "A" when it hurts and I can be honest with myself when it doesn't feel so good either. Although we have been together almost 6 years, I know this is just the start and I thank Him through it all.

three. Healing. I thank Jesus for healing in all areas of my life. I am on a journey of faith and healing in my body. For those of you who do not know, I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2006. There were times that I had thoughts of depression and pain because of this. I am doing very well, but days when my body does not cooperate with me it was hard to keep going. Christ has truly strengthened me in who He is, what He has for me, and who I am in Him. I am thankful for this.

four. Baby Grace. My first doctor's appt when I was pregnant with baby Grace I was worried. The doctors told me that because of the medication I was on that my baby could be affected and there could be birth defects. My OB and Rheumatologist argued about what the right thing to do was. I was scheduled to see a specialist and genetic counselor for my pregnancy to let me know all risks associated with my health and my baby girl. I remember leaving the doctor's appt and pulling the car over and crying. Me and "A." And I remember God shining a light through "A" in that moment. "A" told me that all we could do was trust in God. I knew He was right. The next week all of the testing came back from the specialist and we were told that I was in such a low risk, and my health looked spectacular that I could go to a normal OB. I was told they would still monitor things and my daughter was born in January as a healthy 7lb 7oz baby. I am sooooo thankful for that.

five. Treasure Tuesdays. A new feature I am going to be doing on my blog, hoping to do this each week starting next week. I am going to taking a journey of health and wellness. I have found that sometimes when I want to exercise there are things that I physically cannot do based on my joint pain or discomfort. I am going to begin a journey in finding out treasures in God's word, as well as what works with my body for exercise and food that I eat and how that translates into good or bad for my body. I have a book my dear friend, Ashley, bought me - Foods that Heal. I will take a dive into this following God's spirit and plan and each week I will share something with you on my journey. I am hoping to build a sense of community for those that can relate and for those that cannot - help to build a bridge of understanding, built with love.

Speaking of treasures..
I have a pretty lovely lady I would love to introduce you all to, Ashley.
She is a lovely sponsor this month and her blog, A Faithful Passion, is adorable. I love how honest she is in her posts and that she has great posts that are encouraging and insightful!

Hey, I'm Ashley!
25, single, Texas girl. Even though I went to school in Arkansas, graduated from University of Arkansas in Little Rock 2012, I still was a Texan at heart. I'm an overall girly girl and lover of flowers. I enjoy reading, writing, thinking, and working out/yoga. My blog is centered around my lifestyle which includes my strong faith in God, my everyday experiences in life, and many newfound things. A Faithful Passion is still considered a baby, she was started April 2014, but I'm loving the direction it's going! I'm blessed to have been able to start this blog to share issues, thoughts, and just everyday laughs with amazing people.

What made you start writing?
I've found it easier to express myself when I write and God placed on my heart to start a blog. I've always seen them but never gave it any thought until a couple of months ago so I stepped out on faith and it has been one of the best decisions ever!

Give us THREE words that others use to describe you.
 Strong, Considerate, Intelligent

What is your absolute favorite food?
Guacamole dip w/chips. I can eat that every day! I love to add tomatoes, onion, cilantro, lime juice, & jalapenos.

Favorite thing to do on a Saturday afternoon?
Catch up on my recorded shows during the week, workout, and lounge around or hang out with friends.

What is one thing your journey with Christ has taught you?
Never to lose faith in Him no matter my circumstances. I constantly remind myself that there is better I just have to believe and be faithful to Him. Living for Him on Earth gives me pleasure to know I will live an eternal life

Now here's a few favorite reads from Ashley's blog arsenal - make sure to check them out!

Have a great day!

Monday Must Haves + Link Up!

Happy Monday!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

On Mondays, I love stopping by each week over at Lauren's for her Must Haves to see what she has picked out during her weekly window shopping 'trip'. Today,  I have the pleasure of co-hosting a round of Monday Must Haves with the lovely Lauren and I am happy to show you a few things that have been on both me and miss baby Grace's wishlists.

(All links are next to the number in the list below)

1. (joy/love) I have been eyeing a few prints from this lovely shop, Naptime Diaries. Love how they take scriptures to the next level and incorporate them into pretty prints to add to your home.

2. (straw hat) Baby Grace needs a straw hat. You should see her squint every time we go out in the sun. Which is sadly not enough, we finally got weather in the 70's this past weekend. Sunglasses will be a staple along with this straw hat to keep some shade on her.

3. (white strap bow sandals) These sandals go great with pretty much all things summer for Baby Grace. Everything she owns has bright prints, whites, and summery pink hues. Plus her little toes would just be adorable in these.

4. (star baby romper) This is definitely a Baby Grace must have. I could totally see her sporting this entire outfit *puts in shopping cart*. Perfect for a family day out.

5. (floral textured fit & flare skater dress) Ok, needless to say this is gorg. I was actually debating using a dress like this for my reception dress just because its super fun and goes with the colors of the wedding. Its super flirty and fun for summer. ADORE.

6. (Flower Headband) I've wanted to try this trend for awhile, but love how the brown is super subtle and would be super subtle against my skin tone and hair color. I think I could pull it off, maybe...

7. (Tie Dye Maxi w/ Slits) This screams hippie, summer, beach to me. I would totally rock it with a tee shirt with a cool saying on it. Or I could see it with a plain tank, walking around a summer fair pushing the stroller eating icecream.. Okay, this is how I always envision my summers from now on. But this skirt would just make that vision so much more perfect.

8. (Pharell Style Hat ;) Okay, so many people gave Pharell grief for wearing that, let's call it, "Happy Hat." And now people are sporting it. I often want to try out hats, but I have a big head. (Don't act like you didn't notice) I often only get hats halfway on this dome so I can't buy them online, but if I had a mini-head, I'd totally buy this hat.

Link-Up Rules:

Floral Print + 5 Ways To Keep Happy

Happy Friday!

TGIF.
Hope the week is winding down for you. One thing that has definitely changed for me since having my baby girl is my schedule. Weekends used to be more relaxing. Now they are spent running all the errands I couldn't do during the week. When I get a free day, I sulk in it. But through it all, I gotta remain happy!
Ok, so by now you are either still feeling happy when you hear Pharrell's song, here, or you are completely over it. Either way, it has a good message and tends to instantly get me in a better mood. Which brings me to today's five on friday,
 5 ways to keep happy!

one. Think Happy.

Sounds easy enough, right? Stay positive. Think on good things, not bad things. The saying goes when life gives you lemons, make lemonade! It's not what you are going through, its how you go through it. Choose joy and happiness - it really is a choice. Some days it will feel extremely hard to rise above and stay positive, but in the long run you will be a much happier person. Sure if something goes wrong you may cry or pout about it - you may have to give yourself a few minutes to let a scream out; and then pick yourself back up and keep trekkin'! I honestly cannot remember the last time being sad, feeling sorry for myself, or being mad made me feel any better.
And it definitely never changed the situation.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
-Phillipians 4:8

two. Don't forget of where God brought you from.

Often times if I feel I am lacking, or I could be better - God reminds me of where He brought me from. What He brought me out of (remember this post?) and how I am doing a great job in my life. Sometimes we have to quit being so hard on ourselves and take a second and pat ourselves on the back. You might not be where you think you should be, but you are not where you started. If you are in a place where you feel you have hit rock bottom; there's no way to go but up, right? You can do this.

Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
-Deuteronomy 6:12

three. Do for others.

This is one of my favorites, because so often we are caught up in ourselves and our problems that we can miss how blessed we truly are. Hey, I've been there wallowing in self pity because I just wanted to cry about things that may not have been going my way. Get out and be a help! Maybe you make dinner for a friend, or offer a ride to a co-worker. It could be joining a volunteer group or babysitting for a family member. Whatever it is give of yourself and it will make you feel so much better. There's also the giving principle and it will come back to you :)

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
-Luke 6:38

four. Bask in life's precious moments.

I talked about this earlier this week, here. Its refreshing to just take it all in. Getting a really good cup of coffee or tea; and how the warmth hits your throat. For me it was eating spicy food last night, and how it hurts so good! LOL. Having family together for a Sunday dinner, sharing a laugh with a friend or co-worker. These are the important parts of life not those mundane routines, matters, and things we get so involved in. Enjoy these moments.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
-1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

five. Make time to do something you love.

Whether that is blogging, reading, praying, exercise, watching a good movie, listening to music, playing with your daughter, getting your nails done, doing your makeup, so on and so forth. Making time for yourself helps you stay sane, helps you balance, and usually makes you happy. Sometimes my happiest moments are running on the treadmill listening to upbeat dance mixes! I feel motivated, I feel like I'm on top of the world. Or listening to Beckah Shae (love her) and painting my nails. Or just chatting it up with God and knowing He's probably laughing at me :)

A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
-Proverbs 17:22
Whatever you are doing or going through,
Choose Happiness.
Flower print blouse - gift
Tan pleated shorts - Forever 21
Brown/Gold skinny belt - Rebecca Minkoff
Brown Strap Peep-toe Wedges - Vince Camuto
Brown/Gold Bracelet - Charming Charlies
Gold Necklace - Thrifted

Hope you have a happy, fun-filled, relaxing, memory-making weekend ahead of you!

He's Able FREE Printable + Let Your Light Shine Thursdays #10

Happy Thursday!

Hope your week is going great. I wanted to say hello to all of my new readers and a thank you to all of you who are my tried and true ;)

For the past few weeks I have been creating free printables (here, here, here) that everyone can print off and hang wherever, whenever you need a pick me up! I like to put mine at my desk at work, its a great way to have something positive around you and be able to look at it throughout the day!

Last night, God gave me an idea for today's printable. He put a song in my spirit, called "He's Able." My favorite part of the song is when they say "don't give up on God, because He won't give up on you. He's able!"

He is really so able and willing to do so much for us in our lives. I think this printable can serve as a great reminder in trying times and in great times.
God is so able.

5 Ways to Balance Work/Baby/Life

Happy Hump Day!

I hope you all are enjoying the week thus far.
First thing is first, If you haven't entered my giveaway, do so here.

I've got a lot going on, remember my post on juggling, here?
Have you ever crashed from having so much going on in your life?

That's what happened this week, my body literally said 'Stop!'
At times, we really must listen to our bodies. They will let us know when we are doing way too much; they will let us know if we are eating the wrong things. God wants us to manage what He's given us, and our bodies are not excluded. Do you remember my post about being armed? (if not, click here) It's important to be accountable, responsible, and manage things accordingly. At times we have so much going on that it seems  impossible to stay on top.
Here's my list of 5 ways to balance work/baby/life.
I am no pro at this -hey, I'm only 4 months in to this mommy thing, however, I have been able to try a few things and these are what have helped me the most.

1. Do Your Best.
Nobody said it would be easy, nobody said it would always be fun. Taking care of baby(ies), hubby, and yourself is hard work. As long as you are putting your best foot forward, your efforts are appreciated. They might not say it all the time, but they do appreciate you. I appreciate you. In fact, pat yourself on the back right now, yes you! You are doing a great job. Here's a gold star *hands you a sticker* You deserve it.
2. Your definition of "perfect" changes.
Perfect no longer looks the same. It doesn't feel the same either. Perfect has somehow been distorted into getting your family dressed and out the door and on-time for work, daycare, school. It doesn't look pretty most days and it doesn't have to (remember this post?). As long as the end goal is accomplished that's the new perfect. Don't get me wrong, planning definitely helps - but you will see days when your plan goes out the window - baby stays up all night, gets sick, you and hubby have a disagreement, work is super busy. Those are days when the strength of God is required to get through and that's fine. Calling on God to guide you is always perfect.
3. Trust in your village.
It sounds so cliche yet it is so true. It takes a village to raise a child. You will have built a network of God, friends, relatives, nannies, teachers, coaches, etc to help you teach and care for your child. Giving this network your trust is vital to keeping some sanity. It's tough to do it by yourself, and you shouldn't have to. Relying on others for help is A-OK.
4. Breathe & Take Care of Yourself.
It's okay if you don't get everything on your list done today. Breathe. There will be days where you will feel like you have conquered the world. There will be days that you feel like you did not do enough of anything. In those moments take a breath, "Woo-Sah." It will all be there tomorrow, and you can try, try again. And always take care of yourself - get out for a moment and hit the gym; Get 10 minutes in with a good book, go in the bathroom and lock the door for 5 minutes and paint your nails!  Those short moments are well deserved and much needed. You will always feel you don't have time, but carve out the time and do it!
5. Enjoy the small and BIG moments.
Take it all in. Some of the most challenging times can be some of the most beautiful moments. When your baby cracks a smirk in the middle of a mess she just made. When your hubs comes home with your favorite candy bar -*cough*100 Grand*cough*- when you are having a tough day. When you or your hubs gets a promotion! When your baby has a laugh attack and her laugh is super adorable. When you get to spend valuable time with family and friends. Soak in these moments. Enjoy these moments, because as soon as they are gone they are memories. Take photos! Don't be so connected to your phone and social media that you can't disconnect yourself for your family. They are so important!
