His Way + Sheinside.com

Happy Hump Day!

I am happy the middle of the week is here. My weeks have been flying by so fast as of recent. Summer is fading out and fall slowly showing its face. Sometimes that in between stage between seasons can be uncomfortable.

Right now, I am in a place where I am uncomfortable. I have been given a lot of roles over the past year that are new to me. Follower of Christ, Wife, Mother, Online Specialist, all things that were new to me when I came into them. Lately I have been feeling like I am trying to juggle being the best in each of these things. Everyday I struggle with waking up early enough and overall finding time to get it all done.

I feel like I need to take control of things in my life. But I am learning that what that means is giving back the reigns to Jesus and following His will.

I can see that I have been talking about what "I" am struggling with, what "I" have been trying to do, and I realized yesterday and this morning that without Him "I" cannot do it.

I need Him, completely.

I am happy that He has allowed me to be able to walk in His will for me, even though at times it can get lonely. I don't exactly operate the way I used to because there is something inside me that has changed.

I have finally felt purpose for my life. Jesus gave that to me. And the things I used to do for fun are not as meaningful to me anymore.

I have been in a place of discomfort and I think that's where Jesus wants me to be right now, so that I can look to Him and say, "I'm tired of trying to do your will - my way, I will do it your way now."

I am crying out today to do it His way. Sometimes that is the hardest thing for us to come to terms with, being honest with ourselves about possibly being the hindrance to our future.

We've been born with a yearning inside of us to do, and be, and accomplish. But will we do what it takes to get it done? That's an honest question I had to ask myself. Its so easy to get comfortable. You know your favorite spot on the couch, it has an indentation where you sit and the pillow and blanket fit and feel so perfect in that spot. Anything else just feels odd. New always feel well, new.

Its unknown, un-walked territory.

But we don't have to try and walk it alone, in fact Christ will show us the way to go.

What I have realized is that all of these new roles that I have been given over the past year felt odd. They felt unknown to me. But when others saw me, they saw success. They saw a light in my life, something new, something real, something exciting. Sometimes good things don't always look to you the way they do to those on the outside.

White Blazer - c/o Sheinside.com
Heather Grey Top - Cotton On
Dark Denim Skinny's - F21
Black Cut Out Wedges - Lucky Brand; Macy's
Gun Metal Statement Necklace - Len Druskin

I know that walking with Him will get me the best outcome. It will protect me and preserve me.
(Psalm 121:7)
I am ready to do things your way.

On a different note - I love the fit and how lightweight this blazer is from Sheinside.com. I am thinking of ways to transition it into a fall wardrobe. Have you ever transitioned a white piece into fall? Even with all the backlash of 'no white after labor day'? Leave me your favorite ways to do this!

5 Inspirational Instagrammers to Follow

Happy Monday!

Mondays are often tough. The first battle is mustering up the strength to crawl out of bed. Generally I'm on #strugglestreet, needing a cup of coffee or something caffeinated to get me through the early morning mayhem.

Its always a nice balance to open up my Instagram and see posts of inspiration, giving me that extra push for Monday morning. Its actually cool everyday, because so often we can be fed negative thoughts and ideas. I have a list of Instagrammers that have inspiring accounts. A couple minutes on these feeds and you will feel uplifted and ready to take on anything!
one.
Motivational speaker & fighter of human trafficking this gal is someone to admire.
What got me: She had a photo of a fortune cookie that said "You will soon witness a miracle", her mother who was facing a situation with potential brain tumors received a good report that day! Jesus is so amazing :)

A Christian printable shop with beautiful prints :)
What got me: Pretty things. I die for pretty things, and all prints are instand downloads for $5! You can't beat that!
three.
This is actually a find of my sisters, I can't take credit. But I am glad to have found her. She is a breath of fresh air in this crazy world. And she spread's God's love through her site Sprinkle of Jesus.
What got me: Almost everyday she posts a quick video of words that inspire, make you think, and help you to keep your focus in the right places!
four.
She began an organization, Turning Paiges, a nonprofit outreach group in Dallas, TX for Christ. This lady also has a clothing line Saved&Sexy.
What got me: One of her campaigns is called Sole Saving (super catchy, huh!); where they collect used and new shoes and replace them for the homeless.
five.
Mommies, bloggers, beautiful women who feature everyday inspiring moms on their feed.
What got me: They ran (and are still running) a t-shirt campaign "Love writes a beautiful story" that blew up into a wonderful array of stories from moms and their lives and take on the saying. I need one of these!

I am daily transforming my social media feeds to become more inspiring, positive, and enlightening. Join me in doing this by sharing some of your favorite inspirational accounts and tagging me on any of the accounts below; or using hashtag #imperfectlyhuman

Hope you have a great day!

Friday Ramblings: Praise

Happy Friday!

I welcome the weekend with open arms.
It seems as if the end of summer has been winding down quickly.
Each week goes by faster and fall is approaching much sooner than anticipated.
Yet I welcome fall as it comes with chilly nights, warm cuddly sweaters, and hot coffee drinks. Pumpkin patches, Halloween fun, Thanksgiving dinner, and football fun with the family. I am thankful for each season that we are allowed the beauty to capture here in Minnesota. And although winter lasts a lot  longer than many of us hope up here, every spring and summer we immediately forget the cold it gave us.
Taking in the 'little' moments are of the greatest importance in our lives.
The ability to see the greatness and goodness of our Lord and Savior.

- Numbers 14:21

With all the tragedy that is going on in today's world, I am thankful for a savior that has granted us all grace and mercy if we are so willing to accept it and believe it. To allow me the ability to live in freedom instead of depression and fear. This weekend and forever, think on the good things that we are granted the opportunity to embrace and dwell on that the Father has given us.

Forever thankful.

Royal Tailor, Fight for Freedom

Have a great weekend!

Diaspora Fashion Show

Happy Hump Day!

With Wednesday upon us, I thought I would share some photos I snapped while at the Diaspora Fashion Show this past weekend. There were many amazing African inspired designs as well as a preview of Target's new line, Ambar. These were my favorite shots from the night.

The show was great, and I loved all the mixed bright and colorful prints. I told you guys how I am such a print girl, this show was made for me! ;)

If you are interested in learnings about the designers, check out more at the Retention Strategy.

Have a great day!

Loving Right Now.

Happy Tuesday!

How was your weekend? I got to celebrate a baby shower, go to a fashion show, and spend time with family. Sometimes I yearn for long weekends with absolutely nothing to do. Do you share my sentiments?
You know the days where you can sleep in and not feel bad about it. I think I will get a weekend like that coming up. I can't wait.

The other day I was doing some window shopping. Window shopping is the best for me right now. Because it keeps me in the know of what I want and helps me to stay focused when I do go shopping to know what to look for. It's kind of a double edged sword though because I often end up wanting everything and then calling these items "needs." Ha! How many of you can relate?

Anywho, I've compiled a few items that I need want and am just loving right now.

1. grace. yes. wild.
2. sunglasses
3. snakeskin
4. hat
5. leather
6. fringe

What are you eyeing right now?

Have a beautiful day!

Friday's Ramblings: #BeTrueBeYou

Happy Friday!

Thank you for your overwhelming response to my post, here, about me finding my true self, and just trying to be me. I find it sometimes difficult to stay true to yourself the way the world is now. So often our time is filled with looking at others through social media, television, and so on. We don't realize how often we are constantly comparing ourselves. Even in the smallest ways. The way we mother, the way we speak, the way we act and carry relationships with others all plays back to what we're fed.

Man, We see what others are doing and instead of feeling confident in what we have to offer this world, we relish on that person, their abilities and start to take a disinterest in what we were purposed for. We find faults in our own work, we doubt ourselves, our abilities, until we are in a mode of stuck.

Put two people in a room and tell them to think about the same topic or jot down the first thing that comes to mind when you spit out a word and guarantee their ideas and thoughts will be different. They may even come up with similar concepts, but different words to say them and that is such a precious treasure that we must capture. We are not supposed to be just like our neighbor, or even like our parents or siblings.

I remember finding myself dwelling on how my raspy singing voice would never be like Beyonce's and my shape would probably never imitate her's either. I bottled up my voice, stuck it in a box and didn't look it for quite a few years. I always dabbled in graphic art and I loved it. When I didn't go to school for it or continue working with it, I felt like I was an imposter if I tried to do any art because I had seen other's work and our works were not the same. I looked at other's interpretation of art and figured because I wasn't practicing mine, that my talent was gone. I wasn't singing so the vocals were lost.

But, Christ, man.
He's amazing. He is truly the reason I am so open and willing to share my heart with yal. Through Him I have found my true identity and I am no longer afraid to just be me. So in keeping constant from my message this week, I was working on this print and I wanted to share it with you. It's more my style and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. In fact, I don't really care if you don't because I love it and its so me, that I may just print a few off and hand them out to people just to see a smile on their face from the message. :) I am going to be working on building up a portfolio and hope to start a small shop with these and possibly some stationary, because I just love this stuff man. You are the first ones I am sharing this with so I hope you understand where I am coming from and join in the movement of #betruebeyou

Hope you have a great weekend!

Blue Birds Can Fly

Blue bird button blouse - Nordstrom Rack (last year)
Black dress capris - H&M
Black Peep hole/toe wedges - Lucky Brand (Macy's)

Happy Wednesday!
I can't remember the last time I said Wednesday over Hump Day! (Who am I?) I hope the middle of the week comes with bouquet of roses and smiles :)

I love this blouse. I've discovered something about my personal style and myself recently. I am addicted to any type of print, geometric shapes, electronica music, extremely bright and surprisingly the complete opposite - deep dark colors. I am a mix of things wild, with a straight edge. I'm super creative and enjoy freedom but crave structure. Organized chaos. I also discovered that I wasn't being completely true to myself through what I have been sharing on my blog - in reference to my creative side -singing, speaking art I create and provide as prints on my blog.

I feel in a way I conform to what I think is accepted or well-liked by society instead of staying 150% completely true to what I think is cool and what makes my pieces, well, me. That's what makes us exciting anyway, right? Being uniquely made and having our own ways to express art, love, passion. I promise to no longer hold back and I will allow this space to be my creative outlet. Judge all you want, I don't care anymore. I'm going to take my feet off the edge of this bird's nest and see if I can fly.

Let Your Light Shine Thursday Link Up!

Happy Thursday!

I am unfortunately not coming with a new outfit post or a cute new printable, today! My little one has been sick with croup and work and life haven't stopped to absorb it - so needless to say, I've been busy. It's always hard having a little one sick. Although she is feeling much better than a couple days ago, it's still scary in this new mom territory. Not knowing what to do and being in a new place.
I am blessed to have a mother who has more than enough experience and great siblings and friends around that can help encourage me and give advice. I'll take it! :)

Beauty of a Rainbow

The beauty of a rainbow.
The symbolism that stands within it.
In the middle of a storm when you are reaching, holding on to a glimpse of hope, a promise.
The confirmation that a rainbow brings when its all over.
It cannot be touched, but you know its there, because in the right angle you can see it.
How incredible for us to behold one of life's mysterious wonders that God created.
A reminder of His promise to never flood the earth again.
A reminder that in the midst of your personal storm, it will not take you over.
It will not flood you, it too shall pass.
The beauty of a rainbow.

Happy Wednesday!
